International Exposure Visit of Sri Lankan
Development Bank at FICOBank

FICOBank was the host bank for the International Exposure Visit of the 36 senior- and middle-ranked officers from the Regional Development Bank of Sri Lanka on June 15, 2017, upon request by the Asia-Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association – Center for Training and Research in Agricultural Banking Inc. (APRACA-CENTRAB).

APRACA, which is based in Bangkok, Thailand, is an association dealing with rural and agricultural finance in the Asia-Pacific Region that facilitates cooperation and exchange of information and expertise among its member-institutions, which include FICOBank. The members of the Association are composed mainly of central, agricultural, development and commercial banks, as well as apex organizations and federations of financial institutions, rural development institutions and non-government institutions, in the Asia-Pacific rim. On the other hand, CENTRAB is the official training and research arm of APRACA, which is based in Manila, Philippines.

CENTRAB, through its Managing Director, Ms. Lecira V. Juarez, and staff, was the one that facilitated this International Exposure Visit of the Sri Lankan bankers on Philippine Banking Programs and Interventions for SME and Agricultural Financing. Specifically, it aimed at providing the participants of the visiting bank with the opportunity to learn from the host bank regarding its historical development and business growth, and to discover its best practices and approaches, which they may adopt or replicate in their own bank.

The President & Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Atty. Hubert E. Molina, made the briefing in the morning of June 15 at the Harvest Hotel in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. He rendered a masterful presentation about FICOBank and its business environment, organizational structure, institutional pursuits, business models, products and services, performance scorecard, awards and recognitions, and future growth paths.

The other officers/staff of the Bank who were in attendance are: Mr. Emilio U. Rico Jr., Executive Vice President; Mr. Jimmy R. Parongan, Northwest-Central Luzon Area Manager; Dr. Robert R. Palac, Business Development Department Head; Mr. Damaso T. Galerio Jr., Cabanatuan Branch Manager; and Ms. Sherina R. dela Cruz, Executive Assistant to the Area Manager.

This one-day study mission of the Sri Lankan bankers at FICOBank culminated in a visit of, and interaction with, one of the best-performing SME and agricultural clients of the Bank in Cabanatuan City.
