FICOBank Embarks on a Leadership Training Program

In its commitment to developing the leadership skills of its officers, as it is deemed vital for its organizational growth and success, FICOBank embarked on a Leadership Training Program.

On May 13-14, 2017, the Bank successfully got its Effective Leadership Training done. The Businessmaker Academy (BMA) Inc. was commissioned to conduct the same. This two-day training event was held at the Function Hall of FICOBank Corporate Office in Cauayan City, Isabela. It was attended by the managers/heads of the operating units and support departments/offices/units of the Bank, together with the executive/office assistants.

The two-group training sessions were facilitated by Mr. Paul T. Ruiz and Mr. Felipe “Phil” T. Ruiz III, the resource persons from The Ruiz Group, Organization Development Consultants. With these separate, yet simultaneous, training sessions, the “what” and “how” of an effective leadership were appropriately and effectively presented and imparted to the attendees—the participants and observers.

The first group, which was comprised of the operating unit managers and the department/office/area heads, talked about transformational leadership (trainer, coach and mentor), high-level leadership skill (conversational intelligence) and faults and blind spots in leadership, among others. The other group, which was composed of the operating unit assistant managers, unit heads and executive/office assistants, discussed about leadership as choice and responsibility, leadership-management relationship, leadership versus bossing others around, and others. During each group’s discussion-cum-sharing sessions, many issues and concerns were raised by the participants, which were ably addressed by the resource persons afterward.

Through the series of interactive lecture, discussion and workshop, each of the attendees was able to: (i) understand better the essentials of an effective leadership; (ii) reflect on its relevance and magnitude; and (iii) come up with thoughts on how to become a “better me,” as a team leader.

The Bank will make follow-through activities/initiatives on this Leadership Training Program. It will continue to invest on its team leaders, together with the next-in-rank staff, so as to hone their individual competency and character. FICOBank firmly believes that leadership development is a fundamental key to the achievement of its business goals.
